An awareness campaign was organized on Swatch Bharath mission by the research centre Ooty on 31.01.2023 to the committee members and farmers of Melarsur & Kovanthankuruchi watershed Project of Trichy District brought by Dalmia Bharat Foundation(NGO) . Totally 28 farmers and 2 NGO officials participated in the programme. From the centre Dr. P Sundrambal, Principal Scientist and Acting Head. Dr SM Vanitha Sr. Scientist, Dr. Sudeer kumar Annepu scientist & Sh. George John, Sr. Tech. Officer, Er.A.Murugesan Tech. Officer and K.Sangili Technician participated in this programme. The farmers were explained about the importance of Swatch Bharat movement and various ways of keeping their village neat, clean and hygienic.

They were advisied to gather degradable and non degradable wastes separately and recycle the degradable wastes through composting which will help in promoting organic farming. They were also asked not to use the non degradable polythene carry bags which may pollute the environment and clog the drains. They were advised to avoid open defecation and to use toilets. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks by the programme coordinator Dr. Sudeer kumar Annepu, scientist (Veg.Science).
